Hungarian ISPs had revenues of HUF59.1 billion (€182.8 million) in the first quarter, or 12% more than in the same period last year.
According to figures produced by the country’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) and published by BBJ and MTI, fixed broadband accounted for HUF30.4 billion (+7%) of the total and wireless broadband HUF28.7 billion (+18%).
The total number of internet subscriptions stood at 9.57 million (+5.2%) in Q1, while the number of fibre connections was 655,700 (+16.7%).
Significantly, 10 companies accounted for over 96% of subscriptions and 69% of all subscriptions were for mobile internet services.
One in three (33%) fixed line subscriptions were for download speeds in excess of 30Mbps, while almost one in five (17%) were for less than 2Mbps.
