With the World Cup not even a week old, BBC Sport has upgraded its connected TV app to place a greater emphasis on live content.
The BBC, which will be screening 33 matches live, has already revealed plans for coverage in Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range, and a new VR app.
The refreshed connected TV app will also provide alternative match commentary from Radio 5 Live and access alternative camera angles of the action, like the tactical camera view.
For the first time correspondents including Phil McNulty and David Ornstein will stream live directly from Russia into the app’s live pages from their mobile phones.
Audio content is also being made available to smart speakers such as Alexa and the Apple HomePod. Radio 5 Live will be providing the content that can be accessed by asking the speaker: to ‘Take me to the World Cup’, or ask for the “Take me to the World Cup BBC podcast”.
There will also be video highlights on Facebook and Twitter.
