SERAPHIC rolls out HbbTV 2.0.1 compliant Android TV SDK

June 15, 2018 10.11 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

SERAPHIC has announced that it has recently rolled out Android TV compliant HbbTV 2 SDK.

Following its launch of Linux based HbbTV 2 SDK, the company is now able to provide the cross-platform HbbTV SDK that is compliant with the latest HbbTV 2.0.1 standard.

According to SERAPHIC, HbbTV 2.0.1 enhances the specification with support to HTML5, HEVC, TTML, MPEG DASH (DVB profile), Companion Screen, Media Synchronization, ClearKey and Ad insertion.

It adds that powered by Blink engine, SERAPHIC HbbTV SDK has excellent HTML5 compatibility. It is also elaborately structured to support both standard Android Media framework and third-party media player integration, which enables much flexibility to implement DVB DASH.

SERAPHIC HbbTV SDK fully meets with Android TV’s TV Input Framework (TIF), which could resolve device manufacturers’ concerns to pass Android TV certification.

SERAPHIC’s HbbTV 2.0.1 compliant Android TV SDK supports the latest Android O operating system and will evolve along with Android’s system update.

Commenting on the rollout, Xinwen Xue, VP product management at SERAPHIC, said, “We’re very pleased to deliver cross-platform HbbTV 2.0.1 SDK on both Linux and Android TVs. The Android TV SDK helps device manufacturers to increase market share with reduced RD cost and accelerate time-to-market dramatically. Meanwhile, it increases monetisation opportunities for operators and enables them to offer subscribers attractive services on a new platform. SERAPHIC believes in the future of hybrid technologies and is dedicated to bringing more advanced solutions for the industry.”
