Major expansion for Viasat World’s Epic Drama

June 13, 2018 07.34 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Viasat World’s Epic Drama has secured distribution on UPC’s platforms in Poland, Romania and Hungary.

As a result, the channel has added 1.5 million subscriptions.

Epic Drama made its debut in December 2017 and is already distributed by over 60 operators in the CEE region.

Commenting in the latest development, Benjamin Groocock, Acting VP Commercial Affairs at Viasat World, said: “With its expertly curated programming, Epic Drama has already been a huge success with audiences in Poland, Romania and Hungary and we look forward to building on this success by also making it available to UPC’s customers in each of these territories going forward. Our long-standing relationship with UPC is set to flourish further still with Epic Drama joining our other channels on the UPC platforms. With more fantastic content deals in the pipeline, we are confident that audiences will continue to be blown away by the top-quality programming they find at their fingertips.”

In Poland, Epic Drama will join Viasat World’s other channels – Polsat Viasat History, Polsat Viasat Explore and Polsat Viasat Nature – in the Max(EBT) package. However, it will also be available to a wider audience by virtue of an open window at launch.

Meanwhile, in Hungary, it will be placed in the Digital Gold package, with Viasat History/Nature HD and Viasat Explore also in the line-up.

Subscribers to the DVBC tier in Romania will also receive the channel, in addition to Viasat History, Viasat Explore, Viasat Nature and TV1000.

An Epic Drama SVOD offering will be available in all three markets down the line.
