Eutelsat is to use five satellites to deliver World Cup football from Russia to Europe and the Americas.
The Paris-based operator has confirmed capacity equivalent to 5,500 hours of High Definition (HD) transmissions has already been booked by a number of TV channels and service providers ahead of the competition that begins on June 14.
In addition to the regular broadcast capacity booked by Eutelsat’s customers, capacity on five Eutelsat satellites; Eutelsat 7A, Eutelsat 10A, Eutelsat 16A, Eutelsat 33E and Eutelsat 36B will uplink signals from 11 cities across Russia during the month-long event.
Its anticipated that the World Cup will see feeds in standard, high and ultra-high definition.
