Astra Deutschland and Glasfaser ABC have launched a joint solution for serving multi-family houses and housing estates with satellite TV using a single dish (SMATV).
The channels are received from the Astra satellite system at 19.2° East and distributed to the apartments through the inhouse fibre-optic network (FTTH). Users have free choice of reception devices.
The first joint project is the residential town of Asemwald near Stuttgart, one of the largest privately owned housing estates in Germany. Glasfaser ABC and Astra serve more than 1,000 residential units at this location.
In addition to TV supply via Astra, the fibre-optic in-house network also offers bandwidths for other providers and services equipping the apartments for example with telephony and internet.
The two companies will present their solutions at trade fair ANGA COM 2018 in Cologne (hall 8/stand R10).
