The managing council of the Montenegrin public broadcaster RTCG has dismissed its director Andrijana Kadija.
Balkan Insight reports that this follows accusations about her abuse of the position and unprofessional behaviour, principally by signing illegal contracts with local NGOs to produce investigative stories that endangered RTCG’s editorial independence.
However, the sacking of Kadija is widely seen as political and there were demonstrations yesterday (Thursday, June 7) in the capital, Podgorica, as the managing council voted on her future.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Kadija was appointed the head of RTCG in April 2017.
