Sky Italia has launched its new 15-channel terrestrial service. It follows the agreement signed in March with one-time rival Mediaset.
Channels TV 8, Cielo and SkyTg24 were already present on DTT.
At a press conference in Milan, Sky’s managing director for Italy Andrea Zappia gave details of new subscription packages for reception via satellite and now also fibre with the introduction of a new decoder.
The terrestrial offer is composed of two packages. Sky TV is priced at €19.90 and includes Sky Uno, Sky Atlantic, Fox, National Geographic, Sky TG24, and Mediaset-run channels Premium Action, Premium Crime, Premium Joi, Premium Stories, Premium Cinema, Premium Cinema Energy, Premium Cinema Emotion and Premium Cinema Comedy.
The second premium offer for €10 comprises Sky Sport 24 and Sky Sports 1.
The top-of-the-range platinum edition of the Sky Q box has already sold 100,000 units in Italy. Platinum box has a 2 terabyte memory that records up to 1,000 hours of HD content and up to 4 programmes at one time.
It will now be joined by the mass market Sky Q Black.
In September the new Sky Soundbox audio system will be launched in the Italian market.
Netflix will be integrated from the first quarter of 2019 along with the much-anticipated fibre-only version of Sky Q.
