Subscribers to Dubai-based Du platform were left in the dark over the weekend as to whether they will be able to watch the 64 World Cup football games.
On Sunday, the BeIn Media Group released a statement saying that the two parties had failed to reach a carriage agreement, after BeIn Sports removed its channels from Du sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.
BeIn said in a statement on Twitter that despite “lengthy negotiations, it has not been able to reach an agreement to continue its services over Du’s network.”
Du confirmed the fact saying that they were “temporarily unable to show BeIn sports channels and packages due to a decision by the broadcaster BeIn Sports.”
However, on Sunday evening, the two parties appeared to have successfully reached an agreement, allowing Du to continue broadcasting BeIn Sports. On its website, Du confirmed that “BeIn channels are back and the regular broadcasting has resumed”.
Meanwhile, Du competitor Etisalat announced its World Cup package on Sunday morning.
