Hulu has overhauled its top management, with Joel Stillerman, the chief content officer, and Tim Connolly, senior VP of partnerships and distribution, leaving the company.
The company announced that it has hired a new Chief Technology Officer, as well as its first Chief Data Officer. Dan Phillips, former Chief Operating Officer at TiVo, has joined Hulu’s executive management team as CTO, Chief Marketing Officer, and Kelly Campbell is expanding Hulu’s marketing organisation to assume responsibility for what Hulu calls ‘the subscriber journey.’ Ben Smith, SVP, Experience, will retire in July.
Hulu is combining its live TV and subscription video on demand (SVOD) content licensing, acquisition and business functions into a single group, Content Partnerships. The company is conducting a search for a head of this new group and is eliminating the Chief Content Officer role.
Hulu has appointed Jaya Kolhatkar, former SVP, Global Data and Analytics Platform for Walmart, to the newly-created executive management role of Chief Data Officer, reporting to CEO Randy Freer.
In a related development, Freer told CNBC’s Julia Boorstin that the company has surpassed 800,000 live TV subscribers a little over a year after launching its live TV offering in beta form. It is the first time Hulu has revealed a figure for the internet pay-TV service.
A few weeks ago, Hulu revealed that it had about 20 million total subscribers, including both live TV and SVOD customers.
