Altice has said it will not put forward any new remedies in its proposed purchase of Portugal’s Media Capital.
On Tuesday Portugal’s competition authority rejected its earlier plans, but said the Dutch-held company was free to propose additional remedies.
Media Capital includes the popular Portuguese TV channel TVI.
In a statement, Altice Portugal said it disagreed with the regulator’s decision, but was willing to provide any information needed in order to allow the deal to proceed.
However, the company also expressed anger at the way the competition authority made its decision public: “It’s strange that the … communication been made publicly available, including to the media, at a time the lawyers Altice Portugal and a member of the board of directors of this company were in a meeting with the technical services of the Competition Authority.”
