Serbia Broadband (SBB) has begun to offer free digital TV signals in the Serbian capital, Belgrade.
In a statement, the company says this is the first step in a five-year investment plan in the country’s digital.
As part of the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, which will last for the next year and a half, SBB customers will enjoy all the benefits of digital TV without additional costs or the need to sign a new contract.
Rather than 60 channels, viewers will be able to receive over 100 in the starting package. These will include BBC World, Rai Uno, Rai Due, RTL, Comedy Central and First World.
Viewers will also be able to receive 16 channels in HD.
Belgrade will eventually be the second city in Serbia after Novi Sad in which SBB has completed the transition to digital broadcasting.
