German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland is expanding its Sky Go app for smartphones and tablets with a wide range of linear TV channels.
The portfolio now comprises all Sky channels including Sky Cinema HD and Sky Atlantic HD, all Sky live sports channels, many Sky partner channels such as Fox, TNT Serie, National Geographic and 13th Street as well as all channels from public broadcasters including ARD, ZDF, ARTE and 3sat. More than 40 of the channels are offered in HD quality.
By the end of June 2018, Sky Deutschland wants to provide over 100 linear TV channels as live-streams on Sky Go. Previously, Sky Go users were just able to receive the Sky Sport channels as live-streams.
The TV live-streams on Sky Go can initially only be accessed on smartphones and tablets, a Sky Deutschland spokesman told Broadband TV News, adding that a browser version for laptops and PCs is planned for autumn 2018.
