German platform operator Media Broadcast has expanded the hybrid service Freenet TV Connect accompanying DVB-T2 platform Freenet TV with new channels and a video-on-demand (VOD) offering.
The linear TV additions are free-to-air channels kabel eins Doku, health tv and Deluxe Music.
DVB-T2 viewers can select the channels streamed through HbbTV-based Freenet TV Connect as part of the regular Freenet TV channel listing. Dash Direct Play (DDP) enables quick and seamless switching between the DVB-T2 and IP channels.
Another addition to Freenet TV Connect is Flimmt, the VOD service of Austrian public broadcaster ORF. Flimmit offers movies and series that can be rented for 30 days or purchased. The platform also contains a subscription option offering unlimited streaming of films and series for a flat fee from €6.25 per month.
