Spacecom has agreed a major capacity deal for communications services on its new Amos-17 satellite.
Amos-17 is slated for launch in the second quarter of 2019.
The operator said the deal with an unnamed African client is worth approximately $55 million and would begin on July 1, 2019 or when operations commenced from the new satellite.
Amos-17, a replacement for Amos-5, has been designed to cover the African continent and is scheduled to launch in early 2019. It will operate from 17 degrees East and offer coverage of Ka-band, Ku-band and C-Band HTS services.
Boeing Satellite Systems International is building the satellite and SpaceX will send it into orbit on a Falcon-9 launch vehicle.
