Eutelsat has warned that it could see a decline in revenues of up to 3.5% if so-called “other revenues” fail to materialise in the 4th quarter.
The revenues are currently running behind expectations.
It comes as the Paris-based satellite operator reported a like-for-like 3.3% drop in 3rd quarter revenues to €337 million.
CEO Rodolphe Belmer said Eutelsat was working on a number of “other revenues” opportunities that it hoped would enable to come in at the lower end of its revenue objectives.
Video is showing some signs of improvement with a multi-year capacity agreement signed with Mediaset and a multi-transponder renewal with Poland’s TVN. Video grew slightly by 0.2%, while broadcast revenues were up 0.5%.
As at 31 March 2018, the total number of channels broadcast by Eutelsat satellites stood at 6,880, up 8.2% year-on-year. HD penetration rose once again, representing 19.7% of channels compared to 16.6% a year earlier, or 1,358 channels, up from 1,057 a year earlier.
