A court in Milan has upheld the suspension of Mediapro’s tender for the resale of rights to Serie A football because it is in contravention of Italian law.
The tender to Italy’s top-flight football was suspended last month following an intervention by Sky.
The broadcaster had been outbid by Mediapro for the rights for the 2018-21 seasons. Sky successfully argued that the Spanish broker was not in a legal position to make an offer.
Local media reports Judge Claudio Marangoni ruled the tender did not respect Italian law and was in violation of antitrust principles.
The ruling means a further extension of the original deadline from April 21.
The rights between 2018 and 2021 television rights were originally sold for €1,050 million.
