Cyfrowy Polsat makes steady progress

May 10, 2018 23.35 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Multiroom and paid OTT services were the main drivers for Cyfrowy Polsat’s pay-TV business in the year to March 31.

Results published by the Polish group show that it ended the first quarter with 4,984,391 contracted pay-TV customers, or 4.1% more than a year earlier.

During the period, the number of Multiroom RGUs increased by 8.1% to 1,114,833. However, the total number of customers receiving contracted services, which also included broadband and mobile telephony, fell by 1.8% to 5,743,832. This was mainly due to the merging of contracts under one common contract per household.

Churn over the 12-month period ending March 31 remained unchanged at 8.5%, thanks mostly to the popularity of bundled services and the successful implementation of Cyfrowy Polsat’s multiplay strategy.

Cyfrowy Polsat’s revenues in Q1 amounted to €561.1 million, down from €571.3 million in the corresponding period last year.

Its total operating cost was -€458.5 million (-€463.6 million) and net profit €69.9 million (€64.9 million).
