BT lost 16,000 TV homes on the quarter as subscriber numbers fell back to 1.74 million.
The figures contrast with a 14,000 gain for the first three months of 2017.
BT Sport continued to deliver strong viewing figures across all platforms in Q4, up 19% year on year. In addition to the £295m per season on new Premier League rights from 2019/20, BT has also signed signed a new three-year deal to continue as the exclusive live broadcaster of MotoGP as well as exclusive broadcasting rights for the Vanarama National League for a further three years.
The telco announced it was axing around 13-thousand positions, mainly back office and middle management roles, as it looks to reinvent itself against strong competition from broadband rivals.
Revenue in the consumer division increased by 3% with line losses continuing to cause concern. BT Consumer 12-month rolling ARPU increased 5% to £41.7 per month, benefitting from January 2018’s price increases and growth in fibre customers.
