Virgin Media’s new V6 box is now found in 1.6 million subscriber homes. In its first-quarter results the UK cablenet said the receiver was now available in 41% of households following a 500,000 increase, though just 8,000 new video customers were added.
The V6 upgrade was delivering improved net promotor scores increased TV viewing and greater engagement with apps like Netflix and YouTube.
The 4K capable V6 box also supports the TiVo software.
An additional 111,000 premises were added during the first quarter as part of the Project Lighting upgrade programme. This brings the total number of Lightning homes to 1.2 million.
Q1 monthly cable ARPU of £51.58 increased by 1.6% following last November’s price increases. Selected price rises were introduced in Ireland on January 1, 2018 for 336,000 customers.
Higher speeds drove demand for broadband and a further 15.1 RGUs in Q1.
As of March 31, 2018, Virgin has 5.9 million cable customers and 3.1 million mobile subscribers.
