Croatia’s Agency for the Protection of Market Competition (AZTN) has approved the sale of the national commercial broadcaster Nova TV to Slovenia Broadband, a company backed by the investment group KKR.
Quoting an announcement by the regulator, B92 reports that the sale will not have a significant effect on market competition.
“Taking into account the structure of the relevant markets for retail and wholesale television channel services, the market for the acquisition of audiovisual television content and the television advertising market, as well as market power and shares of participants in the concentration on the relevant markets, AZTN estimated that the actual concentration could not have a significant impact on market competition, especially not in the way it creates a new one or strengthens the existing dominant position of market participants”.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, last July CME agreed to sell its broadcast interests in Croatia (Nova TV) and Slovenia (Pop TV) to Slovenia Broadband, a subsidiary of United Group, in a cash deal worth €230 million.
