T-Mobile in The Netherlands is bringing the Apple TV app that is now used for its OTT a la carte service Knippr to its fixed-line product T-Mobile Thuis (Home).
The operator has decided to terminate the Knippr OTT service on June 1.
T-Mobile is offering all Knippr customers to move to its T-Mobile Thuis product, which will also offer TV Everywhere services from Knippr. However, unlike Knippr, a T-Mobile Thuis subscription requires a fixed line broadband subscription.
The Apple TV app was developed by Stoneroos for T-Mobile’s streaming service Knippr, and was awarded the best Apple TV app 2016 from iCulture.
The Apple TV app from Knippr will also become available to all T-Mobile Thuis customers.
In related news, more Dutch TV apps are coming to Apple TV. Cabler Ziggo has announced that its Ziggo Go app will become available on the platform. Also, NLZiet said it will be testing an Apple Tv app soon and is inviting beta testers to the service.
