Czech O2 makes IPTV and OTT gains

April 27, 2018 10.14 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech incumbent ended the first quarter with 243,000 IPTV and OTT customers for its O2 TV service.

At the same time, its complementary MULTIservice, which allows customers to watch TV on multiple TV sets at one time, continued to grow in popularity.

With over 36,000 customers, O2 claimed a total of close to 280,000 active set-top boxes.

O2 Group, which is present in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, had total operating revenues of CZK9,198 million (€361 million) in Q1, or 0.3% less than in the corresponding period a year earlier.

On the other hand, its EBITDA was 2.9% higher at CZK2,606 million and net profit 3.4% up at CZK1,329 million.

Broadband TV News notes that O2 has not published figures for its O2 TV service in Slovakia, which was launched in July 2017.
