Orange’s operations in both Poland and Romania went from strength to strength in the first quarter.
In Poland, Orange TV gained 100,000 subscribers in the year to March 31, ending Q1 with a total of 875,000. Its fibre network, available in almost 100 cities, had 250,000 customers at the end of March, or twice as many as a year earlier, gaining 34,000 in Q1.
Convergence was a strong driver, with almost 1.4 million customers, or 47% more than a year earlier, opting for on average four services.
In Romania, on the other hand, Orange Home TV ended Q1 with 418,000 customers, or 22% more than a year earlier. In Q1, 95,000 customers chose the company’s fixed-mobile services, or nearly six times more than a year earlier.
On the financial front, in Poland Orange had stable EBITDA in Q1, though its revenues, at PLN2,766 million (€654 million), were 1.8% down on 12 months earlier.
In Romania, it had a turnover of €270 million in Q1, up 11% on the previous year.
