Telefónica gained 80,000 pay-TV subscribers in its home market, Spain, in the first quarter.
This was a similar number to the previous quarter, and it ended March with a total of 3.9 million, or 9% more than a year earlier.
At the same time, the number of Movistar Fusión accessess reached 20.9 million, or 10% more than in March 2017, driven by mobile (1.3 million) and TV (500,000).
The number of Movistar Fusión customers grew by 2% to 4.5 million (+34,000 in the quarter) and accounted for 88% of TV accesses (+6 pp y-o-y), 86% of broadband (+2 pp) and 81% of mobile contract (+6pp).
It was also worth noting that Fusión’s customer base with TV was 78% (+10pp y-o-y).
Consumer revenues for Telefónica in Spain amounted to €1,666 million and accelerated growth to 2.9% (+1.6pp vs the previous quarter).
This reflected the acceleration in the growth of convergent and non-convergent ARPUs.
