Spotify has today joined Sky Q. The music service and its library of 35 million songs and curated playlists has a dedicated app.
It’s part of a series of changes that also includes the introduction of the new wide-screen user interface that has been brought in to enhance the viewing experience.
The introduction of Spotify marks a move towards positioning Sky as a home entertainment hub beyond that of pay-TV.
Last August, Sky announced the Sky Soundbox, a premium speaker developed in partnership with French company Devialet.
Along with Sky Soundbox, customers will be able to augment their existing Sky Q audio services, including the ability to stream to TV speakers via AirPlay or Bluetooth.
