HbbTV team up in Czech Republic

April 6, 2018 11.46 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech Republic’s TV Nova and Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRa) have launched HbbTV on the TV channels Nova and Nova Cinema, distributed in DVB-T on the second multiplex (MUX2).

Commenting on the development, Josef Uher, Technical Director of TV Nova, said: “ TV Nova has the highest TV audience share in the Czech Republic. It is therefore logical that we want to make our content available to the widest audience, incxkduing HbbTVB on CRa’s terrestrial platform”.

Martin Gebauer, CEO of CRa, added: “HbbTV adds another dimension to television and allows viewers to enjoy other interactive TV features. Watching TV content becomes even more fun and comfortable. Currently, HbbTV is used by more than 1.7 million viewers in the Czech Republic and we are delighted to see viewers watching TV Nova through the DVB-T platform”.

HbbTV will also be available on the DVB-T2 transition platform.
