Forbidden Technologies, the cloud video platform technology specialist, is to reposition its business under the Blackbird brand.
Blackbird has long been the name of Forbidden’s codec technology and will now also be the name of the company’s master brand.
“The business has been selling into the post-production market of Soho for a long time, and done very well there, the likes of The Voice, Gogglebox and lots of reality shows are all produced on the Forscene software. But another amazing attribute of the software is in editing a live and developing file. said Ian McDonough, CEO at Forbidden Technologies. “We still have a growing business in the post production market, but we’re looking with a real focus of sports and live in the US. It’s not only bigger, but much more complex than anything in the UK and Europe.”
McDonough wants to take advantage of the many hundreds of local news and sports channels dotted around the United States. Having displaced a rival from Madison Square Garden Networks, Forbidden has been able to get content onto digital platforms ten seconds behind live.
Forbidden will also be introducing three new exciting Blackbird products into their innovative Blackbird cloud video platform; Blackbird Ascent, Blackbird Forte and Blackbird Edge. “The point that differentiates ourselves from every other editing software out there is this Blackbird codec, because it’s the only codec that’s designed for cloud video editing. We need to celebrate that and have it as our point of differentiation a lot more.”
Blackbird Ascent will be an entry-level product for companies that aren’t fully editor trained, such as marketers and reporters in the field, who can use an easy clipper interface across a limited number of video and audio tracks. Blackbird Forte is the fully specified version for trade editor and has a full suite of tools.
