Telia remains the leading provider of pay-TV services in Lithuania.
According to the findings of an annual report published by the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK), it had a market share of 33.6% as of the end of Q3 2017. Its nearest challengers were Cgates (20.7%), followed by Init (10.3%), Balticum TV (10.2%), Viasat (9.7%) and Splius (6.1%), with remaining providers claiming a combined total of 9.4%.
Although cable was the leading delivery technology for pay-TV services, its share as of the end of Q3 was, at 53%, slightly down from the 53.7% recorded a year earlier. On the other hand, IPTV grew from 28% to 31.2% in the same period, while DTH (10.5% to 9.6%), DVB-T (6.2% to 4.7%) and MDTV (1.5% to 1.4%) all saw their shares fall.
The LRTK notes that at the end of 2017 there were a total of 70,800 subscribers in Lithuania receiving retransmitted services.
