The Croatian incumbent Hrvatski Telekom (HT) has launched a commercial internet offer based on TeraStream technology and providing download speeds of up to 1Gbps.
It has made two packages available to its subscribers: MAXnet (stand-alone internet) and MAX2 (voice and internet) with a basic internet access speed of 500Mbps that can be increased to 1Gbps in real time via the My Telekom portal. In order to watch certain TV content, customers are given the option to purchase one of the new MAXtv to Go packages, among them the 4K package, and the Android STB. These can be used via TeraStream, as well as other HT networks.
Significantly, HT is the first operator within the Deutsche Telekom Group to have commercialised this service, and it is also among the first telecom operators in Europe to commercially offer surfing speeds of up to 1Gbps to its customers.
Realising the project involved experts from HT, Deutsche Telekom and numerous partners, including Nokia, Cisco, Combis, Ericsson and Interio.
The 1Gpbs service is initially being offered to customers within certain areas of Zagreb, Split and Karlovac.
