Hispasat has reached an agreement with Global Skyware for a terminal that allows satellite data, voice and video services to be integrated in a single antenna.
The Global Skyware is based on a dichroic subreflector which is integrated in the satellite broadband access terminal and allows the Ka band (used for data) to be passed through to the transceiver and the Ku band (for video) to be reflected to the device that receives the video signal, the LNB (Low Noise Block).
It means that for around the same cost Hispasat will be able to offer convergent services from the same orbital position.
Hispasat will offer the solution from its 30 degree West and 61 degree West orbital slots.
