SVOD revenue in Europe grew by 128% annually between 2011 and 2016

March 9, 2018 09.21 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

SVOD services are growing fast in Europe according to the European Audiovisual Observatory in its new report Trends in the EU SVOD market – 2017 Edition.

SVOD represented 66% of total pay on-demand service revenue in 2016, and 38.7 million Europeans had subscribed to SVOD in 2016 in the EU. Northern European, particularly Scandinavia, shows the greatest SVOD penetration rate.

These are the finding of the new European SVOD report by the European Audiovisual Observatory, part of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

The report, authored by Gilles Fontaine, Head of the Observatory’s Department for Market Information and Observatory Analyst Christian Grece, was financed by the DG Connect of the European Commission. It is available as a free download here.
