Dutch cabler VodafoneZiggo has stopped delivering the Extra MediaBox XL client, formerly Horizon, due to technical problems, according to Tweakers.nl.
The client device, which is intended to be connected to a second or third TV set, can no longer be ordered at the moment, due to a relatively large number of problems experienced by customers.
It is not yet clear how Ziggo will solve the problems and when it will do so. As alternatives, the spokesperson mentioned the use of a CI+ module, digital cable TV or the Ziggo Go app. However, the Extra MediaBox XL is still advertised on the Ziggo website.
The decoder leads to various problems for users. For example, various users on the Ziggo forum report that the device fails, gives different error messages or causes network problems.
The Extra Media Box XL is a decoder that makes it possible to watch digital television on a second or third device, for example. This also requires the larger Media Box XL set-top box, formerly Horizon. The Extra Media Box XL can be connected wirelessly or via a coax or network cable to the main STB. The client was first launched under the Horizon brand in the Netherlands in March 2015.
