The number of pay-TV subscribers in Spain grew by 6.6% in the year to September 30, 2017, according to data produced by the regulator CNMC.
As of the end of Q3, it stood at 6.4 million, with IP technology accounting for 3.8 million of the total.
While the latter figure grew by 464,000 in the year to September 30, the number of DTH subscribers fell by 141,000 over the same period.
CNMC notes that the number of quintuple packages reached 5.3 million, while fibre connections, at 6.1 million, surpassed xDSL for the first time in September 2017.
It also says that the number of NGA accesses on which services were provided stood at 9.2 million as of the end of Q3, or 20.6% more than a year earlier.
FTTH grew the most, adding 1.6 million new accesses to reach a total of 6 million.
Revenues from retail services in Q3 amounted to €6,135 million, up 0.9% y-o-y.
Movistar claimed the biggest market share of the retail services sector (42.3%), followed by Vodafone (19.2%) and Orange (18.6%).
