Slovak Telekom now has more TV customers than Skylink in Slovakia.
However, reports Zive, Skylink is still the country’s leading DTH platform operator.
Zive understands that Telekom ended 2017 with 589,000 TV subscribers, while Skylink had almost 546,000. However, while Telekom operates several TV services (the DTH platforms Digi TV and Magio Sat, along with the IPTV Magio TV), Skylink is a purely DTH service.
It should also be noted that neither Telekom nor Skylink have specified the exact number of subscribers they had in Slovakia at the end of last year.
Jaromir Glisnik, a board member at M7 Group, the owner of Skylink, said that Skyline has fewer than 600,000 customers in the country. Furthermore, around 60% do not have a regular paid package, opting instead to pay a service fee for an offer that includes basic Slovak and some Czech channels.
Skylink can also see its customer total significantly increase in the summer.
Slovak Telekom, on the other hand, said that it had 581,000 TV customers as of the beginning of November 2017.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Slovak Telekom has been gradually catching up Skylink in terms of TV subscriber numbers.
