The Russian cable operator ER Telecom is set to buy two triple play providers belonging to the Telemir group of companies.
ComNews reports that its board has approved the acquisition of Telemir Company and Michurinsk-Svyaz-TV, serving the Lipetsk and Tambov regions of the country respectively.
The combined value of the assets is believed to be over R200 million (€2.79 million) and will allow ER Telecom to significantly strengthen its presence in the Lipetsk region, with its share of the broadband market increasing from 14% to 20% and TV market from 13% to 21%.
In the case of Tambov, the acquisition will see ER Telecom enter the region for the first time and initially secure an estimated market share of 3%.
ER Telecom is one of the fastest growing cable operators in Russia. Its recent acquisition of Neva, a company previously owned by Akado, has paved the way for it to become the market leader in St Petersburg.
