Vodafone held its own in Spain in the quarter ending December 31, 2017 despite aggressive promotions by its leading competitors.
Although these promotions led to higher churn in its services, it still added 38,000 TV customers in the quarter, compared to 47,000 in the previous one.
Meanwhile, its full integrated fixed, mobile and TV service Vodafone One reached 2.5 million households at the end of the quarter, up 45,000 on three months earlier and up 369,000 year-on-year.
In Germany, Vodafone’s TV base remained stable at 7.7 million. Supported by its GigaKombi proposition, the company added 56,000 converged customers in the quarter to reach a total of 588,000. Preparations for its €2 billion ‘Gigabit Investment Plan’ continued during the quarter, and it successfully piloted the switch-off of analogue services to support the upgrade of its cable infrastructure to DOCSIS 3.1.
Across the group, Vodafone had 9.7 million TV customers as of the end of 2017. Including VodafoneZiggo, this number rose to 13.8 million.
The group had total revenues of €11,797 million in the quarter ending December 31, 2017, down 3.6% on the same period a year earlier. This was due to deconsolidation of Vodafone Netherlands and FX movements.
