The Polish national transmission company Emitel has taken legal action against WP and Nowa TV, two of the channels it distributes on the multiplex MUX-8.
According to Rzeczpospolita and Wirtualne Media, Emitel alleges that the channels are paying it less than the annual PLN6 million (€1.45 million) that each agreed in a 10-year deal signed in 2016.
On the other hand, the channels say that MUX-8’s reach is only 40% of the population, rather than the 98% claimed by Emitel.
Two other channels (Metro TV and Zoom TV) also distributed on MUX-8 are understood to be paying Emitel the full agreed amount and to not be in dispute with the company.
WP is operated by Wirtualne Polska, while Nowa TV is owned by ZPR Media, which includes Cyfrowy Polsat as a shareholder.
