The Ukrainian regulator National Council has granted regional and local broadcasting licences for the country’s fifth multiplex (MX-5).
In a statement, it says that a total of 120 slots covering 85 settlements were offered and 25 radio and TV organisations took part in the competition.
The winners were Vik, covering the Zhytomyr region; Lviv TV and Lviv (First West) in the Lviv region; Misto (City) in the Poltava region; Vidikon and Trostianets in that Sumy region; Smile in the Ternopil region; Kharkiv 1 and Simon in the Kharkiv region; 1 Household and TV 7+ in the Khmelnytsky region; and KST, Vidikon, Ditinets and New Chernihiv in the Chernihiv region.
Significantly, Yuriy Artemenko, the head of the National Council, was informed by many companies that they had insufficient time to participate in the competition.
As a result, a new one for local broadcasters will soon be announced.
