The shareholders’ meeting of German broadcast technology institute IRT has appointed Michael Hagemeyer as the institute’s new Managing Director effective January 25, 2018.
Hagemeyer succeeds Dr Klaus Illgner-Fehns who resigned from his post at the end of 2017 for health reasons. Under his leadership, the international HbbTV standard was developed which is now included in almost every smart TV set in Germany.
The management of IRT wishes Dr Klaus Illgner-Fehns speedy recovery and thanks him for his many years of collaboration.
Hagemeyer was most recently head of the information and communication department in the production and technology directorate of Bavarian public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk. From 2005 to 2011 he headed the television production operations department.
Prior to that, he was Director of Technology and Production at commercial broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 and Managing Director of several subsidiaries.
