US cablenet Comcast saw video customers fall back by 33,000 in the last quarter of 2017.
This compares to an addition of 80,000 in the previous year.
But the company still beat market expectations through growth in its high-speed internet and theme park businesses.
The largest of the US cable operators added 350,000 high-speed internet customers in the quarter, a fraction down on the previous year’s figure.
Smart home subscriptions also grew by a healthy 27 per cent in 2017 to reach a healthy 1.1 million. The product made its debut in June 2013.
Net income reached $15.0 billion.
