Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPTN) is to launch a dedicated crime channel for UK viewers.
Sony Crime Channel will debut on February 6 and will be the second free-to-air channel in the UK market.
It will target a female audience with a mix of scripted and non-scripted series including the free-to-air premiere of Orange is the New Black; Jed Mercutio’s award-winning cop corruption drama Line of Duty; the UK premiere of Real Detective: North of the Border; and familiar crime series such as Person of Interest, CSI, Deadly Women, Hustle and Law & Order.
On launch night from 9pm Sony Crime Channel will simulcast with sister channels True Entertainment and truTV. The new channel will be available on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media. The channel will launch later in the month on Freesat 143 (from February 13).
