An expansion of TiVo’s multi-year patent licence with Google has been expanding to take in YouTube TV.
A precise statement from the entertainment technology and audience insight form said the agreement would now “expressly include YouTube TV”. TiVo already has a patent licence covering Google’s products and services across internet-based platforms and devices.
“The world of video entertainment is expanding with exciting new consumer offerings such as YouTube TV,” said Arvin Patel, executive vice president and chief intellectual property officer, Rovi Corporation, a TiVo company. “We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Google through the license of TiVo’s innovations and technology that further consumers’ ability to find and enjoy content on the device of their choice.”
YouTube TV is the 40-channel cable alternative, currently available in selected US cities for a monthly $35.
