Caavo, the TV control firm launched by Sling Media co-founder Blake Krikorian, will launch its first product on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
Krikorian, who died in 2016, founded Caavo in 2015 with former Sling Media colleague Andrew Einaudi and shufflr.tv co-founder Vinod Gopinath.
Sky is one of a number of investors that also include DCM Ventures, Greylock Partners, Hearst and Silicon Valley Bank.
A limited edition of 5,000 units will ship on the anniversary of the product’s unveiling.
Catagorising the product is difficult, but at its core is a TV assistant, voice-enabled universal remote, designed to unify devices – cable, satellite, streaming boxes and sticks, gaming consoles, DVD and Blu-ray players – into a single source.
Caavo currently works with new AppleTVs, Chromecasts, DirecTV, DISH, Fire TVs, Nintendos, Nvidia Shields, Playstations, Rokus, TiVos, Xboxes and Xfinity.
