AXN, Sony Channel, Animax join Amazon Channels

January 18, 2018 21.44 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Sony Pictures Television Networks has launched three pay-TV services on OTT platform Amazon Channels in Germany and Austria: AXN, Sony Channel and Animax Plus.

Action and entertainment channel AXN as well as series channel Sony Channel offer both their linear channel as a livestream and on-demand content in HD quality, costing €3.99 per month each.

On-demand service Animax Plus is available exclusively on Amazon Channels, targeting anime fans. For €5.99 per month, they can watch series and movies in HD quality. All three services can be tested free of charge for 14 days.

“We are delighted to expand distribution of our services in Germany and Austria in this first-time partnership with the Amazon Channels service,” said Kate Marsh, Executive Vice President of Sony Pictures Television’s Western Europe International Networks division. “This is an exciting opportunity for Amazon Prime customers to sample three of Sony Networks’ top content brands which include a wide range of high-quality programming from popular, award-winning TV series to great special interest shows for fan-based audiences through targeted, curated channels as well as on-demand.”

In total, Amazon Channels now contains more than 40 channels in Germany and Austria which can be subscribed to à la carte and cancelled monthly. The precondition for access is an Amazon Prime membership costing €69 per year.
