Discovery Networks Deutschland will drop the encryption of Eurosport 1 HD und TLC HD on the cable network of Unitymedia during the Olympic Winter Games from February 9-25, 2018 and offer the channels free of charge to viewers.
The channels are normally part of the subscription-based HD-Option.
Discovery Networks will also offer customers three additional channels with further footage of the Olympics available exclusively on Unitymedia’s cable network. The three pop-up channels will appear on January 30, 2018.
On the same day, Unitymedia will activate the three additional feeds Eurosport 360 1 HD, Eurosport 360 2 HD and Eurosport 360 3 HD offering further camera perspectives and competitions during large sports events.
On German free-to-air TV, Eurosport 1 will report 24 hours per day from the Olympic Games with further coverage provided by women’s channel TLC and pay-TV channel Eurosport 2.
Public broadcasters ARD and ZDF will also extensively cover the event following a sublicense agreement reached with Discovery Networks in August 2017.
