German sports broadcaster Sport1 has launched a new video platform bundling its complete online video and video-on-demand content at a central location.
The core element of the new area accessible through the Video button at www.sport1.de and directly at www.sport1.de/tv-video is an optimised video player users can adjust to their personal interests, for example by customising the order of the videos and content.
“With the relaunch of the video area at Sport1.de, we have set an important milestone as part of our 360° strategy, particularly regarding the further convergence of TV and online services,” said Pascal Damm, COO Digital of Sport1. The new on-demand service will also be made available on further TV and digital platforms, he added.
A further milestone for Sport1 at the beginning of the new year is its 25-year anniversary: The channel launched on January 1, 1993 under the name Deutsches Sport-Fernsehen (DSF) and was renamed Sport1 on April 11, 2010.
The new video platform illustrates the high significance the online activities have reached today. Sport1 does no longer consider itself as just a sports channel, but as a 360° brand covering free-to-air TV, pay-TV, online, mobile, radio and social media.
