Bundesliga Facebook streaming first for Eleven Sports

January 7, 2018 22.34 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Eleven Sports will stream a Bundesliga match live on Facebook in Poland for the first time this Friday, January 12.

The match, between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayer München, will be the opening fixture of the second leg of Bundesliga season 2017/18.

Commenting on the development, Danny Menken, group MD, Eleven Sports, said: “Live streaming on social media remains a priority for Eleven Sports and this is further evidence that we are bringing premium sport to connected fans everywhere in highly engaging and innovative ways.

“Our ambition is to reach every fan in each of our markets and live streaming on social media makes our top-class properties much more accesible to the fans, while also helping Eleven and the rights holder to reach new and diverse audiences.”

Robert Klein, Bundesliga International’s CEO, added: “For Bundesliga as an innovation leader in the field of sports, digitalisation plays a key role. Our digital platforms and social media channels are providing us with new, effective tools that we use to distribute the Bundesliga’s high appeal in the global market via inspiring content. With the Facebook Live stream through our partner Eleven Sports we will inspire more and more football fans for the Bundesliga in Poland.”

So far this season, Eleven Sports has shown close to 100 Bundesliga games, 68 Bundesliga 2 games and the German Supercup.

The upcoming Bundesliga live stream on Eleven Sports’ Polish Facebook platform comes just three weeks after Eleven Sports set a first in Belgium by live streaming the Ligue 1 fixture between PSG and Caen on Facebook.

Eleven has also recently shown Ivy League Football on Twitter in the US, Singapore National Soccer on Facebook in Singapore and ACB Liga Endesa Basketball on Facebook in five different markets.
