All free-to-air and pay-TV channels of German commercial broadcaster Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland are now available in SD and HD quality on new digital TV platform 1&1 Digital-TV.
The collaboration comprises the distribution for TV sets through the 1&1 TV box, the mobile service for smartphones and tablets via Android/iOS apps and further devices such as PC/Mac, laptops and HDMI sticks.
The agreement with 1&1 follows RTL’s strategy to make its free-to-air TV and pay-TV channels available to viewers across all reception devices, said Andre Prahl, head of distribution at Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland.
In addition the linear TV signal, 1&1 Digital-TV also offers an instant restart function for RTL’s channels enabling viewers to rewind currently running TV programmes back to the beginning.
