The British government is to provide £5 million towards joint strategic communications with Poland, part of which will be allocated to the service Belsat TV.
The move, which was reported by Belsat TV on the eve of Prime Minister Theresa May’s visit to Poland on Thursday, December 21, is likely to see Poland contribute a similar amount in order to “counter Russian disinformation in the region”.
Belsat TV, which targets viewers in Belarus, was launched in December 2007 as a structural unit of the Polish public broadcaster TVP.
It began cooperating with the BBC earlier this year.
